• DAIQUIRI DICK'S
Daiquiri Dick’s Restaurant fuses fine dining, a relaxed atmosphere and attentive service to create an exceptional experience. • JOE JACK'S FISH SHACK
Seafood aficionados flock to this joint for their famous "All-You-Can-Eat Fish & Chips Fridays", and dishes like fresh octopus, whole sea bass and red snapper, garlic shrimp and great slabs of mahi mahi. Located in the heart of "Restaurant Row" on Basillo Badillo only two blocks from the ocean, this local's favorite has a feeling of dining with family, even when you are alone. Large groups are graciously accommodated on the pleasant rooftop terrace that's decorated with old movie posters and midway lights. The service is jovial and quick, the music classic rock, and the specialty drink menu includes Joe's world famous Mex-jito, a mojito made with top shelf tequila and our favorite, the Chile Cucumber Margarita that is beyond words!
• THE DELI
Tired of searching for truly fresh bagels? Craving meatloaf or chicken liver pâté? When was the last time you could find honest-to-goodness focaccia in Vallarta? The search for these and many more delectable items can be found in a new storefront recently opened in Colonia Emiliano Zapata simply called The Deli. Created by Daiquiri Dick’s, one of Vallarta’s most celebrated restaurants, The Deli promises to be a staple for visitors and residents alike, whether searching for something delicious to bring to that dinner party, for lunch in the office, to a quick carry out order. Planning a picnic on the beach, going out on the boat, or preparing for the flight home? Then place your order for The Deli Lunch Bag... with your choice of sandwich, fruit or cookie, and soda or water, all for only $80 pesos! The Deli is open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday at Venustiano Carranza 311 for carry out or eat-in. Should you like your order delivered, My Own Concierge will deliver directly to your door (service fee $5.00 USD) in the Zona Romantica from this establishment during business hours!
• MORO PARAISO
Seafood, chicken and steak on a traditional Mexican grill are their specialties at this hidden treasure on the banks of the Rio Cuale. Just a 20 minute ride up the river from Old Town, you'll take the dirt road running parallel with the river, which can be difficult in the rainy season without 4-wheel drive. This family owned and operated restaurant serves up some of the best casual dining we've discovered in Puerto Vallarta. And if you are a bird watcher, there's no where better to enjoy a meal and see some of Mexico's most beautiful wildlife, including endangered Military Macaws, plus colorful Trogons, Green Jays and Orioles in their native habitat! Ask Chuey your waiter about a fresh margarita or Sex on the River from the bar, and remember to bring pesos for the satellite jukebox to hear some of your favorite Rock and Latino artists. Please note Moro Paraiso does not accept credit cards... cash only (Pesos or USD).
Located on the corner by El Brujo on Calle Naranja just north of Basillo Badillo, this street cart serves up some of the best seafood tacos in Mexico. Known for its fried shrimp and fish soft tacos, you don't want to miss a quick bite of lunch at this local's favorite. Open daily (except Mondays and certain holidays) from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm, and if you are busy laying by your pool or working at home, My Own Concierge will deliver directly to your door (service fee $5.00 USD) in the Zona Romantica from this establishment during business hours!
• EL BRUJO
Locals and snowbirds in the know flock to this place for the authentic Mexican dishes but the real stars of the show are the creative and delicious seafood dishes. Please note that El Brujo does NOT take reservations, but as we can't let you miss out on their dishes, have listed them here for your resource needs. The seriously good food and generous portions make this locals dining favorite. The house specialty, the molcajete, is a sizzling black pot of tender flank steak, grilled green onion, and soft white cheese in a delicious homemade sauce of dried red peppers, is served with a big plate of guacamole, refried beans, and made-at-the-moment corn or flour tortillas. Plus perfectly fresh fish, crab, and oysters round out this off the tourist path dining experience.
• MARANTINA
The home of Puerto Vallarta's catering specialists The Culinary Projects, this new venue located at Pulpito 120 in the Zona Romantica area is a welcome addition to the culinary community of Vallarta. Beautifully prepared and full of flavor, executive chef Oscar Rito prepares some of our favorite dishes in his own unique style. With his partner Erica Mercedes Manuale, this duo has created a wonderful restaurant where guests discover new textures, colors and aromas in the flavors of Mexico, South America, Europe and Asia. Open Monday through Saturday for dinner from 5:00 pm until 1:00 am and closed Sundays.
• PINCHO & OLE RESTAURANT AND GIN CLUB
Vallarta now has a true Spanish tapas restaurant, thanks to owners Javier and Gabriela who moved here from Spain almost three years ago. Recently the couple opened Pincho & Ole Restaurant and Gin Club, located at Morelos 664, just off the Malecon. For those who miss the tapas restaurants of Madrid and Barcelona, those who have yet to experience one, this hip contemporary space allows for a quiet dining for two, or parties of up to 50 people. Menu items include a Tasting Menu for Two ($350 pesos) with a Pincho Triple Shot (three soups), Iberian ham, tomato and olive oil pincho, mini-spanish potato omelette with truffle, smoked salmon and crab pincho, tender meat with foie pincho (our favorite), and coffee caramel crepes with vanilla ice cream. Their cocktail menu is just as creative, with regional drinks such as Cazuelita as prepared at El Abajeño in Tlaquepaque, Gin Tonic as prepared at Don Giovanni in Marbella, or even a Cosmopolitan... as prepared in Sex And The City!
